One syllabus, zero gaps

Stop writing it
from scratch.

Every hour you spend building lesson plans is an hour you're not instructing. You could write and maintain your own syllabus, or teach from one that's already carefully crafted, refined, and kept current.

Write your own From scratch
  • Draft lesson plans for every certificate and rating, start to finish
  • Re-open the FAR/AIM to verify minimum requirements for every student
  • Reconcile what each instructor teaches at every stage
  • Rebuild the sequence every time the regulations shift
  • Find the gaps only when a checkride exposes them

Slow, inconsistent, and different for every instructor: the expensive way to run a program.

Start here
Start with Flight First One syllabus
  • PPL, CPL, and IFR lesson plans: 300+ pages, ready on day one
  • Integrated CPL + IFR track keeps both courses moving at once
  • Minimum flight-experience requirements tracked for every certificate and rating
  • Built-in stage checks verify performance standards before the checkride
  • Digital edition updated for you, free, for life

Show up organized. Spend your hours instructing, not writing lesson plans.

Start with the syllabus

Your students need a training path either way. The only question is whether you build it lesson by lesson, or start from one that's already done.

Inside the syllabus

From the first flight
to the final checkride.

Lesson plans for every certificate, with stage checks and minimum requirements built in, in the format that fits how you instruct.

A clear roadmap to success

A syllabus is a clear roadmap, outlining expectations and learning objectives from day one. That transparency empowers students to plan effectively, manage their time, and take ownership of their flight training, and gives instructors a framework for consistent, effective teaching, fewer misunderstandings, and a more productive learning environment for everyone.

The backbone of flight training

In aviation, consistency and standardization are everything. A syllabus isn't just helpful. It's essential to producing safe, competent, and confident pilots. The Helicopter Pilot Training Syllabus ensures standardization across lessons, certificates, and ratings, keeps your teaching compliant with regulatory standards, and prepares your students for real-world scenarios through gradual skill-building and reinforced learning.

PPL, CPL, and IFR

Take your students from student pilot all the way to instrument rated commercial pilot. Each syllabus is expertly designed to effectively get your students where they need to be.

Integrated CPL and IFR

Our syllabus offers a solution to efficiently completing the CPL course and IFR course by effectively integrating the lessons and training. Start by completing stage 1 of the CPL syllabus, then move on to complete the IFR syllabus while getting ahead on the CPL training at the same time.

Minimum requirements

Keeping track of the minimum requirements for each certificate can be a hassle. Having to repeatedly open the FAR/AIM to verify that your students meet the flight experience requirements is now a thing of the past.

Stage checks

With built-in stage checks to verify your students are meeting performance standards, our syllabus will ensure your students are up to speed and ready for the checkride.

When managing multiple instructors across different flight training locations, consistency is your biggest operational hurdle. Before picking up this syllabus, every CFI in our flight line had their own quirks and individual teaching styles, which sounds fine on paper until a student switches instructors mid-way through their commercial or hits a wall during a stage check because a foundational maneuver wasn't covered sequentially.

Implementing Flight First's syllabus standardized our entire program overnight. The detailed lesson plans give our team a single, reliable playbook from pre-solo all the way through instrument-rated commercial pilot prep. The stage checks act as effective quality gates, ensuring that students aren't just logging hours, but genuinely meeting performance metrics before moving forward.

On top of that, having the raw Word files meant our Chief CFI could integrate our specific emergency checklists and local airspace quirks into the text directly. Our checkride pass rate on first attempts is up, administrative audit headaches are down, and our students appreciate having a completely transparent roadmap of their investment. Truly an indispensable asset for any serious rotorcraft operation.

As an independent instructor teaching in Robinson R44s, I used to spend hours drafting lesson plans and double-checking FAR/AIM minimum experience requirements in my head or on scratch paper. This syllabus has everything laid out step-by-step from pre-solo to commercial checkride prep. The built-in stage checks give my students clear milestones and boost their confidence.

Clean layout, zero filler, and saved me weeks of manual lesson planning. If you teach in helicopters, just buy it.

I instruct independently out of a busy Class D airport, so every minute I spend at home drafting lesson plans is uncompensated labor. Buying this syllabus gave me back my free time.

I keep a printed copy on my desk for student debriefs and keep the PDF loaded on my iPad for in-flight reference. The integrated CPL/IFR track is especially well thought out; it allows my career-track students to knock out dual instrument requirements while building cross-country PIC hours for their commercial certificate simultaneously. Extremely high-quality resource from a working rotor pilot who clearly understands real-world flight line logistics.

The attention to detail in this syllabus is top-tier. Tracking §61.129 commercial requirements built right into the lesson flow eliminates so much administrative headache. My only minor wish was for a few extra custom maneuvers specific to mountain flying, but because they provide the original Word file, I was able to insert those modules myself in about ten minutes. Fantastic resource.

Running a flight school with six active instructors used to mean every student got a slightly different lesson sequence depending on who was in the cockpit that day. Implementing Mikkel’s syllabus across our school completely solved that issue. The integrated CPL/IFR track is brilliant and keeps our commercial students moving efficiently without redundant hours. Having the editable Word documents allowed us to tweak local operating procedures while keeping the overall structure rock-solid. Worth every single penny.

We bought the bundle so our instructors could keep the printed version in the briefing room while keeping digital copies on their tablets. Our pass rates on checkrides have always been good, but DPEs have specifically commented on how well-prepared and organized our students are now during oral exams. The free updates for life on the digital edition make this an unbeatable long-term investment for our program.

Most flight syllabi out there are clearly adapted from fixed-wing programs with helicopters tacked on as an afterthought. You can tell immediately that this was written for helicopters. The progression through basic maneuvers all the way through the more advanced ones makes sense to me. I bought the printed book. It sits flat on my desk during ground briefings. Highly recommended for any rotor CFI. I just wish CFI and CFII courses were included.
